At Two Birds Church, our Facilitators play a crucial role in creating a safe, supportive, and sacred environment for our Ayahuasca ceremonies. These dedicated individuals are the unseen heroes who ensure the smooth operation of our spiritual gatherings, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in their transformative journeys.

Facilitators are the bridge between the ceremonial space and the practical needs of our community members. They work closely with our Ceremony Leader to maintain the integrity and flow of each ceremony while attending to the immediate needs of participants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the setup and breakdown of the ceremonial space

  • Guiding participants to and from the restroom as needed
  • Offering support and reassurance to participants during their experiences
  • Assisting the Ceremony Leader with any ceremonial tasks
  • Monitoring participants’ well-being and alerting the Director to any concerns
  • Helping to create and maintain a peaceful, focused atmosphere

Facilitators report to the Ayahuascero and work as part of a cohesive team to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.

  • Understanding of the psychological and physiological effects of Ayahuasca
  • Ability to speak multiple languages (especially Spanish)

Facilitators typically commit to serving for a minimum of one year, with the opportunity for continued growth and involvement in our community.

When Facilitator positions open, we conduct a careful selection process, which includes:

  • Application review by our Ceremony Leader and senior Facilitators
  • In-person interviews to assess suitability and alignment with our values
  • Background checks to ensure the safety of our community
  • A comprehensive training program covering ceremonial protocols, safety procedures, and ethical guidelines

Our Facilitator training includes:

  • Shadowing experienced Facilitators during ceremonies
  • Workshops on the spiritual and practical aspects of Ayahuasca ceremonies
  • First aid and crisis management training
  • Instruction in holding space for others
  • Ongoing mentorship from senior Facilitators and our Ceremony Leader

At Two Birds Church, we value the personal growth and spiritual development of our Facilitators. We offer a 1:1 trade system where, for each ceremonial weekend served, Facilitators receive one weekend to participate as a non-helper. This balanced approach allows them to regularly experience ceremonies from a participant’s perspective, deepening their understanding, enhancing empathy, and preventing burnout. It ensures our Facilitators maintain a strong personal connection to the sacred nature of our work, while continuously improving their ability to support others.

We encourage our Facilitators to engage in continuous learning and personal growth, including:

  • Participating in integration circles and community events
  • Attending workshops on related spiritual practices and healing modalities
  • Developing their own spiritual practices to deepen their understanding

At Two Birds Church, our Facilitators are more than just helpers – they are essential guardians of the ceremonial space, creating an environment of safety, support, and sacred intention. Their dedication and compassion play a vital role in the transformative experiences of our community members.
